• After struggling with his situation for a long time, Todd has pulled into the peloton and taken the sprint for the line.  Not far behind was Mr. Consistent Wilson and the ever persevering Machetti!  A great drive to the line while  others fought it out in the trenches.

Taking home the January Title – Wilson!  A great victory for the bald man from the BIC!  All those micro laps really helped him out!  Scott and Ken scored a statistical tie for second, taking it out the 1000th of a percentage point!

February brings a new race and a new game!  Madison Pairings are below!  We will try to find a special price for the Valentines Day Madison!  Seeing Bill and the Machetti doing exchanges should be entertaining!

  • Another great week in the peloton!  In week one, the field lost 18.5 pounds.  Scott racked up almost half of those.  The plateau after a big week held Scott at bay, but the rest of the peloton did well accumulating a grand total of 20 pounds gone!

On his way from Germany, Bill shed a remarkable 1.95% taking the stage win!  A lot of big good weight lost this week!

Are you going to be above or below the average next week?

  • After a long hiatus, the staff of VeloLosers welcomes you back to the new year, decade and competition.  With some added weight after the holidays – the riders are back in action racing for glory and the quest of reduces mass!

In our first week, we say the perennial VL competitor, Scott came driving to the line faster and lean this week with a 3.47% weight loss.  “What can I say, I’m a fast starter and I got on the ‘FAST’ track.  It will probably come back to bite me, but it’s good to get some momentum going!”

Ken and Wilson followed Scott in, each with over 1% weight loss.

Fighting his way into the cobblestone showers, Todd had a rough week.  The VL team was on hand to offer some support and bring him back into the game!

  • While Scott still holds the record for the number of VL stage wins, he has been suffering a long drought.  The wins have not been coming.  Being edged out on the line any number of times has not been easy but it has not broken his spirit.  After seeing his teammate and madison partner, Wilson drive to the line – he yelled hand, got the sling and went on the attack himself!  ”I’ve needed a victory in weight loss for a long time.  It’s been harder than anyone can imagine to be so close!” commented Scott.

In the overall standing, the top three remained stable this week, leaving the door open for an exiting week coming up!

    VL 3 - To Stage 7

  • In a suprise attack from the middle of the peleton – Wilson has shown the proud colors of the Eastside Wheelmen! “People were starting to forget about us!  I had to bring us back to the front!” said the Colorado hair design specialist!

Finding a bit of his form from previous weeks, Bernhard was able to slip back into the Yellow Jersey, less than a full percentage point ahead of Sneaky Pete.

Next week looks to be an exciting one with just three stages left in VL3 – The Vuelta!

  • As Bernhard falters, the ever Sneaky Pete comes to the line with a narrow victory but he grabs the Yellow Jersey none the less!

It was a rough week for the peloton – however some were able to rally with a loss.  Scott commented “This isn’t a sprint – it’s a grand tour of weight loss.  My third this season!  It’s taxing!”.

Racing continues for 4 more stages!

  • As we have seen time and time again, wearing the Yellow Jersey can wear a rider down like nothing else.  After a bombastic week in Stage 2, losing 4.3% and taking the lead, Bernhard put back on over a half percent this week.  ”I decided to eat a little bit more” is all the leader of VeloLosers II had to say.  Today’s big winner was Todd, who is knocking on a significant milestone.  Looking to change “century” in weights in the next week or two, Todd was definitely pleased taking his first stage win.

In an apparent team attack, the four riders from the Dick Lane Velodrome (Machetti, Steve, Scott and Pete) all rode strong, coming in almost back to back to back to back, with Machetti taking the local sprint.  ”It wasn’t planned … though it does seem like we are all on the same ‘cycle’” commented Scott.

Scott currently leads in the frustrating, but impressive most consistent category, losing .44% in each of the three stages.  ”Hey, 44 is my favorite number, my race number… I guess there’s something to it!”

Currently Berhard holds the Yellow Jersey.  In the break with him is Sneaky Pete.  A fairly large chase group hopes to bridge the gap before the field gets motivated.  Look for sneak attacks, collusion and mayhem at the races this week!  We arel almost to the midpoint and everything can change at any time!

After a week of beer avoidance and general computer geek madness, Sneaky Pete rolls across the line with an impressive 2.29% weight loss just ahead of the George who carried himself across the line well!

Many of the riders experienced great stress and anxiety through the week, the support of the peloton helped them get though.  VL1 Champion, Scott, commented “Knowing I have to reveal my weight at the end of the week was truly a motivating factor.  I had a lot of crap on my plate, I think I ate well.”  Entering his second VL competition, Jess also remembered the honeymoon weight loss in the beginning.  ”I remember those days, now I’m fighting to break the 210 barrier.”

As we have seen in the past, the early stages are as unpredictable as a balm!  See you in a week!
